MIM!!!

Ok so a ton of stuff has happened but I'm just going to touch on something we did last month.

Me (Holli), Heidi, Hope, and Dad went to the Music Instrument Museum (MIM). It was so fun we saw the coolest things. The day we went they were featuring the country Brazil. Since my dad went to Brazil we just had to go! At the MIM they have rooms for about each continent (with sections for each country), a room to play some of the instruments, and a room for kids to make a craft!

Here's an instrument from Brazil.....Dad actually owns one of these. He got it from his mission.

Ok so I don't remember the name to this one exactly but it was cool!!:) Dad wore his Brazil shirt.

This was HUGE!!! Especially compared to Heidi. Haha!! In order to play this there are stairs to stand on. (you can't see them but they are behind Heidi).

Of course I ignored the word kids and made the craft anyways. This is a Carnival bracelet. It was super easy and super cute! They also had a double bell craft that you could make ,which I did, but I don't have a picture.

This is Hope listening to a video about a phonograph. When you get there, they give you head phones and this other thing, that i don't know the name of, so when you walk around you can listen to videos of the different instruments, artists, and/or cultures.

Under the instruments they had plaques explaining it's history. This is one about the dance organ from Belgium.

This is a cool star guitar that I know nothing about because I didn't take this picture but it is very cool! Oh and Heidi.:0 ....she's supposed to be playing it! She thinks she's so cool!

A frog instrument. To play it you take the stick lying next to it and scratch its back! :)

So try and guess which rooms we spent the longest in.....

Of course it was:
the room that we could play the instruments in and...

the gift shop! :)

A record purse!
A record mirror!A fishy coin purse! .....super cute!

So that was our amazingly fun trip to the MIM! You all should check it out! It's pretty cool! I guarantee you'll love it!

Here's the website if you want to find out more! :)

Hiking the Peralta Canyon Trail!

This spring break my dad took us girls hiking! We got up at 7 am and went straight to QT to get drinks and gas. Then we drove for a half hour to Apache Junction where the Peralta Canyon Trail is. We were all so excited. The only time we ever hike is once a year in August to Fossil Springs. This is always fun so I was glad to try out another trail!

While hiking we had a ton of laughs! We were probably the loudest hikers around! We sang and chatted and took lots of pictures! If you look closely you'll see that Holli has some pretty funny faces in some of these! haha!

Here Holli is trying to save my life...

She got too tired though so Hope stepped in! It was a lot easier for her!

Later Holli tried to imitate Gollum.... ya that was kinda creepy!

So here's a secret: Hope's an under cover spy! That's why she is so massively strong! So shhhh! Don't tell anyone! Haha! Actually I can't remember why she was doing this! :)

Going off trail!

So the weather started off a little chilly but this soon changed! It got very hot very quickly! We got pretty tired and took a ton of breaks! What can I say, we're a bunch of girls...oh and dad! haha!

We also found a cave! It was pretty cool and made a great spot for more resting!

We actually stopped here on the way up and on the way back down!

So we must have been out of shape or something because we all fell at least once! Hope and Holli probably fell the most though! I swear between the two of them they were falling every 3-5 minutes! Of course we just had to laugh it up!

Here's Holli

Dad's turn! (I guess I didn't get a picture of Hope falling!)

Holli will probably try to say that she was really just trying to slide down the rock but that's not true! :) Oops she's falling again!

We also saw a lot of nature! Dad taught us all of their names! (of course, I had to look them up again for this post!) :)

Prickly pear

Saguaro

Paloverde

Ocotillo

Jojoba (Hispanic hobo)

Hope really likes Hispanic hobos! :)

Jumping cholla (also known as jumping cactus!) This one was kinda scary! :) I don't think it liked Holli's Gollum impersonation!

The whole scenery in general was just gorgeous!

Dad thought this looked like the cactus was making a peace sign! Sure dad, whatever you say! :) I was thinking it looked more like antenna!

So when we finally made it up at the top there were actually quite a bit of people already up there! The view was so pretty! The mountain that you see is Weaver's Needle! If you look closely to the right of it you'll see "the lone tree"! In the picture it actually just looks like a black dot...I couldn't get a very close shot!

Who's taking the picture, dad? :)

We were pretty tired but there were so many cool rock formations that were just begging to be climbed that we couldn't just ignore them!

Attempting to get back down!

More exploring of the rock formations!

Oh! I guess I did get a picture of Hope falling! haha!

This is not what it looks like...Hope is not touching Holli's behind! I promise! She's just reaching for the rock beside her! haha! Pretty funny though! :)

Steep! Watch your step!

Finally we rested! Hope laid on Dad's belly and then Holli laid on Hope's! I just had to get a picture of it!

I know it looks like Hope is trying to strangle Holli but she really isn't! :) I think she was trying to keep Holli from falling down the mountain?!! At least I hope that's what was going on! haha!

Of course I couldn't let them have all the fun! :)

I think dad really had a good time because this picture is still his screen saver for his phone!

Thank you dad for taking us on this hike! We had sooooo much fun! I'm pretty sure everyone around us thought we were crazy because of how loud we were! I guess they would be right though! We were pretty weird! That's just what happens when you're with the people you love doing what you love! I wish that the rest of my family could have been there with us. Other than that it was the best ever! I can't wait to go hiking again!
